We spoke a bit about protecting your car, but little about the need to clean the surface prior to sealing. If you don't clean the surface prior to sealing the protection won't last as long - perhaps 30 days at best depending on how much precipitation we have and whether or not your vehicle is kept in a shelter or garage. So, in order to clean the surface prior to sealing, one must either clay or use a clay bar - and my comments on clay bars are I'm not sure if they do any good at all. I do know that they are very laborious, from what I've seen and heard. One gentleman with whom I spoke told me it took him eight hours to clay and wax his car. This is ridiculous to me. If anyone wants to try their luck with a high-speed wheel doing actual power polishing on the surface of their car, they would soon realize it's not that difficult. One can always polish at half the speed with a finish pad and not risk burning the paint. It depends how courageous you want to be. Certainly this blog is about addressing the fact that high-speed polishing is always going to outlast, outshine any job done by hand anywhere in the world. And, like I say on my site, the proof is in the pictures. So, if you want your car to look outstanding, teach yourself this skill. If you need my assistance, I can give you the Wheaties and nerve to proceed ahead. I just hope you don't have a Ferrari or DB9. Then I would say bring it to me.
Happy preparing for winter. Don't be bashful. Send me your detailing questions - there are no stupid ones. And remember, black is my specialty. Happy motoring. And let's hope winter passes quick.
